Dreams of Awakening: Lucid Dreaming And Mindfulness Of Dream And Sleep

November 21, 2013 on 8:38 am | In Dream Types | 2 Comments

Dreams of Awakening is a thorough and exciting exploration of lucid dreaming theory and practice within both Western and Tibetan Buddhist contexts. It not only explores lucid dreaming practices, but also the innovative new techniques of Mindfulness of Dream and Sleep, the holistic approach to lucidity training which the author co-created. The book is based on over 12 years of personal practice and the hundreds of lucid dreaming workshops which Charlie has taught around the world, in venues as diverse as Buddhist temples and dance-music festivals. Using a three-part structure of Ground, Path and Germination the reader is given a solid grounding in: the history and benefits of lucid dreaming; cutting edge research from dream and sleep scientists; entering the path of learning to do the practices; and prophetic dreams, lucid living, out of body experiences and quantum dreaming. Although Dreams of Awakening presents many different angles on how to make the 30 years we spend asleep more worthwhile, the fundamental aim of the book is to teach people how to lucid dream their way to psychological and spiritual growth. This book is for all those who want to wake up, both in their dreams and waking lives.

  1. Awaken to the dream, awaken to life What does it mean to be “lucid”? In this rich and inspiring book, Charlie Morley offers much more than practical tips and techniques for how we can all begin to awaken within our dreams. He clearly articulates and encourages the reader to grasp the bigger picture: that these insights into dreams, reality, and consciousness are not meant to stay in the “dream world” but are meant to be applied to our lives here and now. It is by waking up to the present moment of our lives that we can begin to turn this unconscious dream we call life into a lucid dream. Charlie outlines with an open heart exactly how one can experience what it truly means to be “awake”. Highly recommend this book and anything else this brilliant man creates!

  2. Definitely a journey of awakening! This book definitely covers it all. The journey takes place in 3 parts. It has depth, spirituality and is full of wonderful techniques in part II of the book. Charlie’s background in Tibetan Buddhism adds a unique element to his description of lucid dreaming. A lot of wonderful “Aha!” moments throughout. You will enjoy this book even if you are a seasoned lucid dreamer. Charlie offers a perspective that moves beyond the regular concepts of lucidity and onto a platform where dreaming becomes a daily practice that will help you to become more present and mindful in everything you do.My favorite quote by Charlie sums it up “…a lucid dream is as real as waking reality. It’s just a reality with different dimensions.” And this book definitely explores these dimensions!
